✦ Synopsis

We recommend an overall program length of two years (suggested by market survey), identification for each student of a preceptor who is a faculty member in an existing emergency medicine residency program, and, specifically, 12 weeks of didactic and clinical time at a regional medical center (emergency medicine residency) over two years.

Note that the task force recommends six two-week blocks, some inpatient experience during this time if required by the student's needs assessment, completion of core curriculum during this time, designation of four or five centers in the United States to accomplish this, and devotion of one day a week (ten hours) to clinical and didactic work spread over two years in addition to the blocks discussed above.
