## Abstract ## BACKGROUND Few inquiries into periconceptional nutrition, other than folate, and risk of heart defects exist. We investigated the observed association between conotruncal heart defects and periconceptional vitamin use, as well as potential associations with other dietary nutrients.

## Abstract ## BACKGROUND In this study we investigated whether the risk of delivering infants with conotruncal heart defects was increased among mothers who consumed alcohol during the periconceptional period (i.e., 1 month before conception to 3 months after conception). ## METHODS Data were o
## Abstract ## BACKGROUND A 28βbp repeat polymorphism in the 5β²UTR of the thymidylate synthase (__TYMS__) gene represents a candidate risk factor for neural tube defects (NTDs) due to involvement in folateβdependent homocysteine metabolism. NonβHispanic, white, U.S. citizens carrying at least one
Investigating possible genetic polymorphisms and gene-environment interactions in the etiology of human conotruncal defects is a prudent research approach. In this study we explore gene-only and gene-environment effects of 32 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on conotruncal defect risks. The ge
