β¦ Synopsis
A method is described for the measurement of bIood, serum and/or plasma fevels of hexobarbital, phenobarbital, cycfobarbital and phenytoin by ultraviolet refiectance~ phOtOMetry on thin-layer chromatograms. The lowest concentrations measured were 0.3-0.7 pg/mI. The accuracy was similar to that ofgas chromatographic procedures. For phenytoin determinations 5-(p-methyIphenyl)-Sp%enyIhydantoin may be used as interna standard_ The me&ad has been applied to clinico-plrar~~~~colo&al assays, to the measurement of cycfobarbitat elimination in man folkwing a therapeutic dose, and to the study of phenobarbitai kinetics in rats using serial blood samples.
