✦ Synopsis

The thermoluminescence (TL) properties of pegrnatite samples, which were collected from Rod El-Liqah, Eastern Desert of Egypt, have been studied. Two main glow peaks were found, at about 235 and 310Β°C. TL response for b-as well as y-rays have been studied. Good response was obtained for the two peaks with a sensitivity of 430, 220 nC/Gy g for p and 1400, 300 nC/Gy g for y. The TL sensitivity of neamatite for y-dose was enhanced by a factor of 6 times its original value using the sensitization meihod in which the sample is cooled in-ice.

Three different batches of LiF TLD-100 rods were subjected to investigation of their radiation sensitivity and the stability of the sensitivity after subsequent cycles of irradiation readouts. An old batch (circular rods from 1985), R85, showed an initial sensitivity of approximately 720 (nC/Gy). A

## Abstract Beef and beef fat tissues showed relatively higher percentages of moisture, protein and ash content but lower amounts‐of fat and dry matter than pork and lard. Fresh beef showed higher levels of total solid nitrogen, total volatile nitrogen and amino nitrogen contents, as compared with
