Abstract

Columnar single crystals of Fe‐doped Ca~3~Co~2~O~6~ with a pseudo‐one‐dimensional structure were synthesized by a flux method using K~2~CO~3~. Seebeck coefficient (S ) and electrical resistivity (ρ ) of an Fe‐doped Ca~3~Co~2~O~6~ single crystal along the elongated direction were measured in the temperature range from room temperature to over 1000 K in air. The single crystal showed p‐type semiconducting behaviour and the Fe doping augmented the S, ρ, and the power factor (S ^2^ρ ^–1^). (Β© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
