The behavior of an yttria-stabilized zirconia electrode in the ZnCl,-2NaCl melt has been investigated between 450 and 500°C. The response of the electrode was nernstian and limited in oxobasic media by the solubility of zinc oxide. Although it is more acidic than LiCl-KC1 eutectic melt, the chlorozi

✦ Synopsis
Abstmct-The molten binary mixture Z&l,-N&l was studied by means of emf measurements on galvanic cells. In these cells Pyrex glass functions as a sodium indicator electrode. The erupt fret enthalpy of mixing at 600°C has been calculated from the emf measuremen ts. The ZnClrNaCl mixture shows a stronger ne !? tive deviation from ideal mixing behaviour than the corresponding lead chloride and cadmium c loride mixtures. The concentration and temperature dependences of the specific mass and of the transport properties of molten mixtures of zinc chloride and of N-methylpyridinium chloride have been investigated. The specific mass linearly decreases with the temperature at all compositions of the mixture. In the limit
