An experimental study on the metallization of monocrystalline silicon under shock compression has been performed. Subjecting the ceramic YBaCuO of the I-2-3 composition to shock compression (p=270 kbar) produces a ceramic of the same composition which under normal conditions (p=O,T=300K) has a tetragonal structure and undergoes a transition to the superconducting state at a temperature TcO~93K.
