✦ Synopsis
The mean activity coefficient of HCl (0*005+05 m) in water and methylcellosolve-waert mixtures is calculated in the temperature range 25-45"C.
Primary, secondary, and tota medium effects are studied in terms of the standard potentials and the corresponding mean activity coefficients. The medium effects increase with increase of the organic solvent component.
From the variation of mean activity coefficients Y& with temperature, the relative partial molal heat content L, of HCl is computed. L, passes through a minimum at 20% for 0*05 m HCI at all temperatures.
The effect of temperature on L, permits the evaluation of the corresponding relative partial molal specific heat Ta7,.
