β¦ Synopsis
The enthalpy of solution of aksaite MgB 6 O 10 β’ 5H 2 O in approximately 1 mol β’ dm -3 aqueous hydrochloric acid was determined. With the incorporation of the standard molar enthalpies of formation of MgO(s), H 3 BO 3 (s), and H 2 O(l), the standard molar enthalpy of formation of -(6063.65 Β± 4.85) kJ β’ mol -1 of aksaite was obtained. The standard molar entropy of aksaite was also calculated according to the thermodynamic relation.
