## Abstract Rapid‐scan FTIR/temperature profiling studies of the fast thermal decomposition of alkanediammonium dinitrate salts [H~3~N(CH~2~)~n~NH~3~](NO~3~)~2~, n = 1–4 and 6, are described. All of the salts liberate HNO~3~ and NH~3~ early in the first stage. When n = 1–3, small molecule products

## Abstract Temperature profiling/FTIR is described for the fast thermolysis of four C‐NO~2~‐containing nitramines whose oxygen content exceeds the balance to CO~2~. The compounds are [(NO~2~)~3~CCH~2~N(NO~2~)CH~2~‐]~2~ (ONDO), [(NO~2~)~3~CCH~2~]~2~N(NO~2~) (BTNEN), [Cl(NO~2~)~2~CCH~2~]~2~N(NO~2~)

## Abstract Fast thermolysis (> 100Β°C/s)/FTIR spectroscopy of alkylammonium mononitrate salts is described in terms of the gas products and the temperature and time correlations of their evolution. The salts studied are [(CH~3~)~n~NH~4~‐~n~]NO~3~, n = 1–3; [(CH~3~CH~2~)~n~NH~4~‐~n~]NO~3~, n = 1–4;

The gas products from rapid thermolysis of aminotetrazoles are discussed in terms of their potential to affect the burn rate of a composite propellant. 1,5-and 2,5-diaminotetrazole decompose by two competitive reactions. One reaction gives HCN, NH3, and N 2 and the other gives NtI2CN, NH3, and N 2.

The kinetics of thermal decomposition of hexanitrohexazaisowurtzitane (HNIW) were measured by the isothermal weight loss (TGA) and absorbance changes in the FTIR spectrum at 1 atm. Below 204"C, the initial 50% of decomposition follows the power rate expression k(T)(l -cO n with n = 1,2. The activati
