Ignition delay times of acetonitrile (CH 3 CN) in mixtures containing acetonitrile and oxygen diluted in argon were studied behind reflected shock waves. The temperature range covered was at overall concentrations behind the reflected shock wave ranging 1420-1750 K from 2 to mol/cm 3 . Over this tem

โฆ Synopsis
The thermal decomposition of acetonitrile in the temperature range is modeled with a reaction scheme containing 23 species and 43 elementary 1350-1950 K reactions. Values of which were reported in a previous investigation {[product] /[CH CN] }/t, t 3 0
are computed with this scheme at intervals and are compared with the values reported 50 K in the literature. Except for acrylonitrile and propyl nitrile at the high-temperature end of the study, very good agreement between the calculation and the experiment is obtained. A sensitivity spectrum of the kinetic scheme is shown and a discussion of the overall mechanism is presented.
