โœฆ Synopsis

The thermal conductivity of a polyimide film (Kapton") in the thickness direction was calculated by measuring composites made with Kapton and epoxy resin. The epoxypolyimide film composites were prepared by changing the volume fraction of the films. The thermal conductivities of the composites were measured down to cryogenic temperatures. The thermal conductivity of the film in the thickness direction was estimated on the basis of the rule of mixtures, by taking into consideration the thermal conductivity of the epoxy and the thermal resistance at the interface.

In this work a new convenient experimental setup is made with the help of a Gifford-McMahan cryorefrigerator to study the variation of thermal conductivity with the temperature of any solid material in the range of 35-300 K. The GM refrigerator can produce a temperature down to 35 K with a refrigera

In view of emerging applications in aeronautics, low temperature and nuclear fusion technology, the mechanical properties of plastics have to be tested both at cryogenic temperatures and under certain radiation environments. In the present paper measurements are reported of the elastic modulus, the
