✦ Synopsis

This paper deals with the analysis of the steady state laminar thermal boundary layer in liquid metals with variable thermal conductivity. For a general class ofinviscid flows specified by the power law distribution, explicit closed form analytical solutions are given for temperature distributions using regular perturbation technique and they are compared with the available exact numerical solutions and found to be in good agreement.

## Abstract Transient heat conduction in a composite slab is investigated in the present work by using the orthogonal collocation method. The present numerical method is found to be quite efficient and highly stable even for the power‐type temperature dependence of thermal conductivity which often
