β¦ Synopsis
A comprehensive examination of the stability of prominences is presented, and the gross behavior of prominences is considered in terms of the stability of an optically thin plasma supported by a magnetic field against gravity, including thermal effects on the energy balance. It is shown that (1) hydromagnetic as well as hydrodynamic waves of short wavelengths could induce instability which leads to the formation of prominences, and (2) in quiescent prominences, the dominant factor which controls the instability is the shear between the permeated and the supporting magnetic fields. The dependence of these instabilities on the radiative loss and other hydromagnetic effects are discussed.

The dynamical model of a solar prominence taking into account plasma motion in the form of a cumulative flux was developed. Of great importance is the fact that the prominence plasma is partially ionized. Ion-neutral collisions in nonsteady flux conditions radically change the energetics and dynamic
The kinematics and the development of the internal structure in the eruptive prominence of August 16, 1988 are described. The prominence exposed helical structure, and the pitch of the fine structure filaments was measured. The evolution of the pitch was measured in the legs of the prominence and at
A dynamical model of prominence loops is constructed on the basis of the theory ofhydromagnetic buoyancy force. A prominence loop is regarded as a flux rope immersed in the solar atmosphere above a bipolar region of the photospheric magnetic field. The motion of a loop is partitioned into a translat
By copolymerization of trioxane with 1,3-dioxacycloheptane (DOCH) or 1,3-dioxacyclooctane (DOCO) acetal copolymers were synthesized with comonomer units which, in contrast to customary 1,3dioxolane/trioxane copolymers, consist of sequences with four or five methylene groups, respectively. In compari
