✦ Synopsis
We investigate numerically the transmission properties of 1D and 2D composite metamaterials (CMM) consisting of periodically arrangements of circular split-ring resonators (SRR) and wires. The theoretical methods used are the commercially available code Microwave Studio for transmission calculations and a retrieval procedure which gives the effective electric permittivity, e, and magnetic permeability, m, of the system. Our theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental data.

## Abstract The increasing interest in negative‐index metamaterials requires a formulation capable of a full analysis of wave propagation in such materials. Since two‐dimensional (2D) problems have been largely explored in the literature, the natural step is a three‐dimensional (3D) formulation of
## Abstract We report the effective complex permittivity and permeability of 1D planar left‐handed transmission‐line metamaterials. These metamaterials are formed on coplanar waveguide (CPW) with simultaneous load of series‐capacitive and shunt‐inductive elements in periodic intervals. By employing
We investigated the effects of dielectric-spacer thickness on the left-handed behavior of a symmetric fishnet-like metamaterial working at microwave frequency. The left-handed behavior was demonstrated and characterized by the standard retrieval procedure. The thickness of spacer was varied in order
## Abstract We investigated numerically and experimentally the left‐handed (LH) properties of the metamaterial based on square split‐ring resonator (SRR) pairs. The square SRR pairs metamaterial simultaneously show an electric and magnetic response to incident electromagnetic wave, and exhibit broa
