✦ Synopsis
A Doppler-free infrared spectrum of the Y, band of NCCN-HF has been measured using a laser-molecular beam apparatus based on the opto-thermal detection technique. A tit to the spectrum yields the following set of molecular constants; v0=3808.1491(30) cm-', B"=0.039840(11) cm-' and B'=0.040205(11) cm-'. Considerable homogeneous broadening is observed in the spectrum which indicates that the lifetime of the vibrationally excited state is approximately 0.14 ns. A number of transitions are found to be perturbed relative to the frequencies expected for a rigid rotor. These perturbations are most likely due to either coriolis or anharmonic coupling between the vI vibration and some other (dark) vibrational states of the molecule.
