✦ Synopsis

The infrared spectrum of carbonyl fluoride, COF 2 , has been measured in the region from 1880 to 1980 cm 01 using a Bruker Fourier transform spectrometer at 0.003 cm 01 resolution and diode laser spectroscopy at Doppler-limited resolution. In this region the n 1 band at 1945 cm 01 dominates the spectrum and is in Fermi resonance with the 2n 2 band at 1914 cm 01 and in B-type Coriolis resonance with the 2n 3 / n 4 band at 1936 cm 01 . From the n 1 band, 820 lines were successfully fitted using an S-type Watson Hamiltonian in the III l representation, yielding rotational and fourth order centrifugal distortion constants, a Coriolis parameter of 0.00339(24) cm 01 , and an obs-calc RMS of 0.0006 cm 01 . Only 400 lines from 2n 2 could be successfully fitted, with an obs-calc RMS of 0.0005 cm 01 , because of interference from n 1 over much of the 2n 2 R branch.

Using a Fourier transform spectrometer, we have recorded the spectra of ozone in the region of 4600 cm 01 , with a resolution of 0.008 cm 01 . The strongest absorption in this region is due to the n 1 / n 2 / 3n 3 band which is in Coriolis interaction with the n 2 / 4n 3 band. We have been able to a
