โฆ Synopsis
The propagation velocity of a porosity disturbance has been calculated by assuming equilibrium on both sides of the wave. This quasi steady state approach simplifies the equations considerably but does not lead to a lesser accuracy. Waves with large amplitudes can be attenuated while rising up through the bed. The stability has been analysed and the results lead to a better explanation of the response of a fluidixed bed to a step change in the fluid velocity.
