In the range 110-200 nm the absorption features of Si#& closely resemble those of SiCl, and the peaks observed are tentatively assigned to the Rydberg transitions of a Cl lone-pair electron. Two diffuse bands in the SiF,CH3 absorption are also assigned to Rydberg excitations. The spectrum of GeF., s

The observed difference in transition strength for ( SF6) 2, ( SiF,) 2 and ( SiH4) z IR-predissociation spectra is explained by induction effects (q&/R$) which have to be included in the interaction Hamiltonian in addition to the dominant dipole-dipole term (&IR:z).
