Ethylenedisulphurdiacetic acid (I) was first prepared by RAMBER6 AND TIBERG 1 HOOC-H2C-S-CH2-CH~-S-CH.oCOOH (I) but so far little attention has been given to its chelate-forming abilities; literature data are sparse and only of a qualitative nature. ✦ Synopsis
In the previous communications of this series, we studied polarographlcally the complexmng properties of mannltol 1 and of some other sacchar~des 2 in strongly alkahne media. As an example, the manganese complexes have been chosen. The polarographic data were also utmhzed in the potentlometrlc determination of manganese (Mn(IV)), chromium (Cr(VI)) and copper (Cu(II)) with ferrous sulphate 3. Divalent iron complexes with sucrose were studied polarographically by Khv~inek 4, who found the composition of the complexes of Fe(II) and Fe(IIi) and determined their stabihty constants. The wesent work deals with the polarographlc behavlour of manganese in an alkaline sucrose medium
