Abstract
A tunable defect mode with a voltage tuning mechanical is demonstrated. A varactor has been introduced into a 1D comb‐like photonic crystal and a defect mode occurs in the band gap. Frequency of the defect modes are controlled by the reverse bias voltage applied to the varactor. The defect peak in the transmission spectrum shifts towards high frequency as the reverse bias voltage increases. The simulating results agree well with the experimental results. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett, 2011; View this article online at wileyonlinelibrary.com. ## Abstract An efficient finite‐difference time‐domain method is proposed for the full‐wave analysis of guided modes in photonic crystal fibers. The three‐dimensional hybrid guided modes can be calculated by a two‐dimensional mesh, if one assumes that the propagation constant along the __z__‐direct
An explicit method is presented for the analysis of guided wa¨es in a line defect channel in a two-dimensional photonic crystal. It can predict, e.g., the minimal channel width for allowing a wa¨e to propagate in the channel at a frequency in the stopband of the photonic crystal. The theoretical pre
