โฆ Synopsis
Electron spin echo spectroscopy has enabled us to identify the non-radiative triplet state of all-trans-dodecapentaenal in stretched polyethylene films. We have obtained transient electron paramagnetic resonance spectra and determined the zero-field splitting parameters: X/h = -933 f 20 MHz. Y/h = -586 f 13 MHz and Z/h = I 512 k 20 MHz. Intersystem crossing mainly populates the upper spin sublevel. This state dominates the decay of the triplet state and has a lifetime of about 13 ps at 1.2 K.
