✦ Synopsis
The thermal decomposition of C3AH 6 has been studied by Thorvaldson and his co-workers (1,2) who suggested that an |ntemedtete of composition C3AH1. 5 was formed. This decomposed on further heating to give free lima and C12A7. Najumdar and Roy (3) presented evidence that the most likely reaction was the fomatton of CH and C12A 7 in a non-equilibrium decomposition at low pressures of water ValOUr. These reaction schems require weight losses of 21.41% and 22.43% respectively, but neither agrees particularly well with expertmmntal weight Losses. These differences were resolved by the work of Kuzel (4) who, on the basis of single crystal diffraction twits, su~lgested that C12A?H was formmd tot~ether with CH. This note presents TG and infra-red results which confirm the work of Kuze I.
