As a sequel to the foregoing investigation the development of standard specifications for the purchase of aneroids has been undertaken at the joint request of other branches of the Governlnent service and of manufacturers. The final results of the Bureau's work in this field cannot fail to be of great value in improving the design, malmfacture, and use of these important instruments.

A practical method is proposed to assess the shedding potential of textile materials. The evaluation of the sheddability is based on the use of adhesive tapes and on comparison, using three different sheddability scales for cotton, wool and fine man-made fibres.
