โฆ Synopsis
A superconducting saddle magnet of 4 T for the MHD generator has been designed and constructed. At first, the magnet was tested in an experimental cryostat with inner diameter of 320 cm. It took about 100 hours cooldown from room temperature to LHe temperature and the liquid helium inventory in cryostat is about 14000 1 during testing. The magnet ran steadily and reliably with central field up to 4.13 T. Details of the experimental arrangement, cool-down process and the test results are presented in this paper.

A high rigidity type superconducting magnet (SCM) is developed and tested by an electromagnetic vibration simulator which simulates the actual running conditions. To reduce the increase in heat load due to the vibration of the cryostat, several kinds of design concepts are chosen. It is recognized f
