โฆ Synopsis
About five years ago, after years of moderate success as a university teacher of biochemistry and genetics, I made a discovery that has affected my teaching ever since. I realized that when I lectured I was the one who learned most. I was the one whose thinking skills were enhanced and whose creativity was stimulated. I played the active learning role; the students' role was passive, often consisting of listening and trying to decipher what I was trying to say during the lecture. I am grateful to Professor Eugene R. Watson of the Division of Higher and Adult Education of the School of Education and of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for sharing his ideas and expertise with me in his courses, in conversations, and in workshops.
