β¦ Synopsis
The total synthesis of substituted (4S)-4-(hydroxymethyl)imidazolidin-2-ones from D-serine methyl ester is described. The key step in the synthesis is a reductive amination reaction which is brought about using titanium(IV) isopropoxide and sodium cyanoborohydride, followed by the cyclization to urea using triphosgene after deprotection.

## Abstract A new series of 2,3βdisubstituted quinazolinβ4(3__H__)βone derivatives was synthesized by nucleophilic attack at C(2) of the corresponding key starting material 2βpropylβ4__H__β3,1βbenzoxazinβ4βone (__Schemeβ 2__). The reaction proceeded __via__ amidinium salt formation (__Schemeβ 3__) ra
