## Abstract Pyrylium salts 3 react with (benzyloxy)amines 2 generated by hydrazinolysis from their __N__‐(benzyloxy)phthalimides to afford in moderate (35–65%) yields the corresponding title salts 4. The ^13^C‐ and ^1^H‐NMR spectra of the latter compounds are reported.

Diphenyl-4-(5-R-2-furyl)pyrylium and 2,4-diphenyl-6-(5-bromo-2-furyl)pyrylium perchlorates and the corresponding pyridines and l-methylpyridinium perchlorates were synthesized. On the basis of the UV and PMR spectra it was concluded that there is significant electronic interaction of the furylium s
