A preliminary investigation (1) of the structure of colletodiol, C14H2006, a metabolite of Colletotrichum capsici, indicated a monocyclic di-a&unsaturated ester or lactone containing two hydroxyl groups. We now deduce structure (I) by analysis of the n.m.r. epectnnn of colletodiol and by alkaline hydrolysis to the Cc and CB-acids, (II) and (III) respectively. To our
