## Abstract Natural abundance ^17^O NMR spectra of eleven diaryl α‐diketones are reported. An excellent correlation was found between ^17^O shifts and Οƒ~p~^+^. Conformations and Ο€ character of the intercarbonyl Cο£ΏC bond are discussed.
