✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Natural abundance ^17^O NMR spectra of eleven diaryl α‐diketones are reported. An excellent correlation was found between ^17^O shifts and σ~p~^+^. Conformations and π character of the intercarbonyl CC bond are discussed.
