โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
For the first time, an EPR spectrum of Mo^3+^ ions in yttriumโaluminium garnet has been obtained. The ions isomorphously replace Al^3+^ ions in the trigonally distorted oxygen octahedra of the garnet. The spectrum may be described by an axial spinโHamiltonian with the parameters S = 3/2, I = 5/2, gโฅ๏ธ = gโ = 1.967, b = 26.0 GHz, A = (131 ยฑ 2) MHz, and B = (139 ยฑ 2) MHz. The results have been correlated with the data reported earlier for other compounds, and the parameters of the fine structure of Cr^3+^ and Mo^3+^ ions have been compared. This allows to discuss certain regularities which govern the variation in the spectroscopical parameters of the ground state of similar ions in going from the 3d^3^ to the 4d^3^ configuration.

Cr3+ multisites in an yttrium aluminium garnet host have been observed. The absorption, emission and excitation spectra and decay curves have been recorded. With the help of a high-resolution dye laser, the 'E and "A, splittings were measured.
## Abstract The results are reported of the first study of the ^5^D~2~ manifold of Eu^3+^ in the noninversion and inversion centres of YAG using the method of twoโphoton luminescence excitation. Based on the number of Stark components and the twoโphoton polarization dependences it is shown that the
