Energy-transfer processes between C?+ and Nd3+ multisites in YAG have been studied. 4A2+4T2 zero-phonon and 4A2+2T1 transitions of Cr3+ were observed by high-resolution dye laser excitation spectroscopy.

β¦ Synopsis
Cr3+ multisites in an yttrium aluminium garnet host have been observed. The absorption, emission and excitation spectra and decay curves have been recorded. With the help of a high-resolution dye laser, the 'E and "A, splittings were measured.

Mullite glass-ceramics were prepared with varying concentrations of Cr(III). The X-ray absorption, emission and EPR spectra reveal that the most defined crystals are formed at the lowest concentration of Cr(II1). The concentration quenching of the luminescence is small and the quantum efficiencies h
