✦ Synopsis


The Mi)ssbauer spectrum of p-FeSi2 is interpreted as arising from only one set of equivalent iron atoms. This observation. combined with the available crystallographic information, indicates strongly that the space group symmetry for &FeSiz is C M m m.

The iron silicide P-FeSi2 is reported t3 be stable from low temperatures up to about 967*C, where it decomposes peritectoidally
