This letter describes a method for the synthesis of unsymmetrical phosphinic acids by the phosphinylation of a resin-bound aldehyde and subsequent 'P' alkylation. This synthetic transformation is very difficult to perform as selectively in solution and therefore further exemplifies the powerful nature of solid phase organic chemistry (SPOC).
