THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES OF INDEPENDENCE AND SOCIALISM IN NORTH PARE, TANZANIA, 196188 Ethnographic and archival research for this article was conducted in Usangi Division, Mwanga, Dar es Salaam, Moshi and Arusha in 19978.
