✦ Synopsis

The seventh national conference was held September 8-11th, 1964 at Lipno in South Bohemia, three years after the sixth conference (for review see Hydrobiologia 20 : [295][296][297][298][299][300][301][302][303][304][305][306][307] 1962) . In total 87 participants attended the sessions . Abstracts of 49 lectures were given in the following text.

1 . V. SLADE~EK : 'In Memoriam R. SRAMEK-Hu EK & B . CYRUS' . Both limnologists belonged to the founders of the technical hydrobiology in Czechoslovakia (for obituaries see Hydrobiologia 21 : 384-389, 1963 and 25 : 585-586, 1965) . The period 1945The period -1962 in Czechoslovak hydrobiology can be designated with the name of R . SRAMEK-HU §EK, because he was its most important personality .

2 . J . CHALUPA : 'Humic acids in our peaty waters' . The determination was made in 115 samples originating from 60 localities . In stagnant water of peat-bogs 200 up to maximum 600 ppm, in waters flowing directly from peat-bogs some tens and in brooks and rivulets some units ppm of humic acids were determined . E .g . Vltava River above the Lipno Reservoir shows 4-5 ppm, Otava River above the town Susice 3-5 ppm . The determination is not easy and is described in Sci. Pap . Inst. Chem . Technol., Prague, Water Technol. 7(1) : 17-131, 1963 . 3 . V . STRA9KRABOVA : `Comparison of bacteriological methods for the estimation of the pollution' . After comparing the cultivation method with the MF one and direct counts the author concluded that for the surface waters the classical cultivation method has to be preferred . It concerns only the quickly growing psychrophilic heterotrophic bacteria . The results from the reservoir Klicava, Slapy and Lipno did not show direct relation of bacterial numbers to the pollution .
