✦ Synopsis
The eighth national conference was held September 5-8th, 1967 at Bysthi6ka (N . E. Moravia), three years after the seventh conference (see Hydrobiologia 29 : 288-295, 1967) . In total 86 Czechoslovakian and 2 foreign participants attended the sessions . Abstracts of all 52 lectures are given in the following text :
1 . P . OLSZEWSKI (Olsztyn, Poland) : "New ideas dealing with the water movements in lakes" . Originally all changes in the water temperature were explained by convection. After erecting the theory of the circulations this concept was able to elucidate the majority of the changes . In some cases, however, there is an interference with seiches .

M. HUET (Groenendaal, Belgium) : "Classification and fish estimation in rheophil running waters" . In the moderate climatic zone there is a good agreement of the fish zones proposed in 1872 by A. FRI6 in different countries. The zones of trout, grayling and barbe comprise the rheophilic fishes and the zone of bream the limnophilic ones . The Belgian stream Ourthe (see Verh. int . Ver . Limnol. 16 : 1192-1203, 1966) corresponds to this classical scheme, but in Czechoslovakia, there is a light shift of the zones upstream .

L. HANU3KA : "Devastation of the natural environment by waste waters" . If we attempt a synthetic aspect in the relation waste waters -enviroment -man, we can distinguish according to our experiences the following phenomena : 1 . quantity, 2 . quality, 3 . secondary and accompanying effects, 4 . seasonal appearance and 5 . perseverance and action in a free and bound form .
4 . V. SLADE~EK : "System of water quality" . It consists of three independent but interfering factors : saprobity, toxicity and radioactivity. The limits of chemical and bacteriological features were rela-
