β¦ Synopsis
The electronic structures of the 3d (CrOG-ZnOi) and 4d (MoOi-CdOG) metal tetraoxianions were calculated using the discrete variational Xa method. The electron affinities (EAs) of the corresponding neutrals were estimated using the assumption that the fist ionization potential of MO: is equal to the EA of the corresponding neutral. It is shown that the EA changes are not monotonic when going along each series. The behaviour of the EAs is related to peculiarities in the HO&IO structure of MO<.
