Primary and q econdery alkyl isocyanides and phenyl isocyanide react with bydrogwn chloride to compounds the structure cf which waa proved, several years ago, to be Ia-b (1). This reaction is the only hewn example of oligomerization of isocyanides by acid species where C-N-addition haa been proved;
