The crystal structure of a triclinic form of the copper(D) complex of Sethoxy-2-oxobutymldehyde bis(thiosemicarbasone) (CuKTS) has been determined\_ The KT8? coordinates to copper(I1) as a tetradentate ligand via two nitrogen and two sulphur atoms. The unit cell is triclinic, space group Pi, with di

β¦ Synopsis
The copper complex, 3-ethoxy-2axobutyraldehyde bis(thiosemicarbazonato) copper( slowly oxidizes thiol groups. Under conditions of excess thiol, the reaction leads to the dissociation of CuKTS_ On the basis of pH and concentration studies of the rate of reaction, mechanisms are proposed for the reaction of CuKTS with mono-and dithiols. The rates of reaction of CuKTS with coenzyme A and dihydrolipoate have been measured. These results are discussed terms of proposed sites of the antitumor activity of CllKTS.
