β¦ Synopsis
A puked dye laser has been used to study the flurxescence of 80 and BO2 in the gas phase at iow pressure. Radbtive Iif+times of 87.2 jt 2.6 and 76.3 f 1.4 ns were obtained for the (000) and (100) Ievels of BOz(A *I&) and of i3f f 15 and 103 f 6 ns for IeveIs u' = I and 2 of BO(A %I). Unlike BR (A 2~,), BO(A *II) is strongly quenched by the oxygen carrier.

The laser-excited fluorescence spectra of B02 hove been observed and measured. Analysis of the spectrum yields values of vibrational constnnts in the ground electronic state.
