โฆ Synopsis
The radiant cooling of a plate with one insulated face is a process of some practical importance and one for which no analytlcal solutlon, exact or approximate, has yet been suggested, except for the case when the plate radiates to an environment which is at absolute zero.
It is demonstrated that an approximate analytlcal solution for the general case of non-zero environment temperature may be obtained using the heat balance integral technique, and that the accuracy of the general solution is acceptable for engineering purposes.
