Abstract

The protonation of o‐methoxy‐ and o‐hydroxy‐benzaldehydes in FSO~3~HSbF~5~SO~2~ solution was investigated by ^1^H NMR spectroscopy. The formation of the Z‐carbonyl protonated molecule is explained by intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
