โฆ Synopsis
Far from being the chief component of neat's foot oil, triolein is ody one amongst several minor constituents. The specific lubricating qualities of the oil cannot therefore be ascribed to ttiolein, but it would appear possible that these may be connected.with the specific niised unsaturated glycerides present. The latter include about 33y0 or" mixed tri-unsaturated glycerides containing two or one oleic groups, and about 15% of palmitooleo-glycerides in which the third acyl group is heradecenoic or a polyethenoid acid. Hexadeceno-oleo-glycerides amount in all to about 35% of the fat and, with the 3594 or" palmitodiolein, may well be the dominant factor which influences the specific physical properties of neat's foot oil.
