## Abstract A parametric study of the ShippβKaplan procedure shows promise for the use of reduced amounts of cheaper mixed solvent systems, the use of lower quantities of more concentrated hypochlorite, and elimination of the aging period. Use of methanol as the sole reaction solvent at 50Β°C shows

Abstract
The title reaction was effected by oxidation with copper(II) compounds, halogenating agents, quinones, and air or oxygen, in the last case preferably with the addition of a promoter. These procedures are all conducted in basic medium, and require a correct choice of reaction solvent.

## Abstract The synthesis of 2,2β²,4,4β²,6,6β²βhexanitrostilbene by oxidative coupling of 2,4,6βtrinitrotoluene in the presence of metal catalysts has been studied. The effects of reaction parameters on product yields have been evaluated and mechanisms for the reaction are proposed.
## Abstract Carbodiimides are formed with simultaneous evolution of CO~2~ by the reaction of basic catalyst with sterically hindered isocynates. Another generally applicable synthesis of carbodiimides involves intermediate formation of cyclic adducts of isocyanates and carbodiimides, which, upon cl
