✦ Synopsis
The stability constants ofcomplexes with different stoichiometries formed by Cu(I1) with tartrate and malonate anions were determined, together with the formation constants of the mixed complexes Cu(II)-MAL-TAR. These studies were made with the help of the De Ford-Hume and Schaap-McMasters polarographic methods. The differences found in the stability constant values measured, taking into account the chemical and the statistical effects caused by the organic ligands, are discussed. The reliability of the results obtained has been verified by applying the program POLAG.

## Abstract The acidity constants of the six thienyl‐ and the three phenyl‐pyridines, and the stability constants of the corresponding Cu^2+^ 1:1 complexes were determined in aqueous solution (__I__ = 0.1, NaCIO~4~; 25°). The basicity of the pyridyl group is increased by a shift of a thienyl or phe
