The kinetics of oxidation of triethanolamine (TEA) by diperiodatoargenate(II1) anion, [Ag(HI0,)z]5-, has been studied in aqueous alkaline medium by conventional spectrophotometry. The reaction is pseudo-first-order in [Ag(III)] disappearance with kobs = (kl + &[OH-]) KlKz[TEA]/{[H210:-j+ + K1 + KIKz
