β¦ Synopsis
Quantitative methods applied to biological phenomena lend themselves to hnalyses of the determining physical and chemical processes which might otherwise escape investigation. Prediction of results on the basis of such analyses may then be experimentally tested. Many types of animal behavior are determined by a complex series of underlying processes, subject only to indirect study; but when all possible conditions of the environment are held constant or otherwise controlled, quantitative relationships often appear which make possible an interpretation of the behavior. The method of studying stimulation, central nervous phenomena, respiratory exchange, locomotion, and metabolic reactions by a quantitative investigation of organic response to temperature changes well illustrates such procedure. ## Abstract The intensityβduration properties of rain have been explored using various approaches, including daily or hourly data, IDF and eventβbased analyses, and the study of rain properties across intraβevent durations such as the widely used __I__~30~ indicator of peak event rain rate. This ar
