โฆ Synopsis
Manganese (III) mesotetraphenylporphyrin chloride in the presence of tetrabutylammonium periodate has been shown to aid the oxidative desulphurisation and deselenation at pentacovalent phosphorus: the desulphurisation reaction is further aided by the addition of imidazole. There is a variety of chemical reagents for effecting oxidative desulphurisation at pentacovalent FhOsFhOrus (e.g. permanganate in pyridine', hydrogen peroxide2, nitric acid 3 , iodine in dimethyl sulphoxide4, mchloroperbenzoic acid5, photosensitised oxidation61 as well as enzymic processes. Of recent interest is the use of enzyme mimics to carry out the (-hydroxylation7, heteroatom oxidation7, epoxidation of olefins 8,9,10,11 and rearrangement reactions involving 1,2-shifts' reactions catalysed by
